Months away from the moment he got the entire Top Gear crew fired from BBC, Jeremy Clarkson admits that not only did he mess up, but that doctors even considered he needed a visit to rehab to get back on his feet.
Jezza’s story sounds much like Amy Winehouse’s song: “They try to make me go to rehab, but I’m saying no, no, no!” The big difference is that in the regretted artist’s case it was a dangerous situation as the young singer was fighting drug and alcohol addiction. With the famous motor show host, it’s rather related to temper, namely the lack of it.
“Back in the summer it was decided by various people with serious face and stethoscopes around their necks that I needed a complete break, and they weren’t talking about two weeks in the sun, with a book, and a million cocktail parties every night. They were talking about a whole month in the Stone Age,” wrote Jeremy Clarkson in his weekly The Sunday Times column.
The leader of the former Top Gear boyband is subtly blaming the BBC television chief Danny Cohen for his state of mind. To the famous scandal, other problems such as “a dying mother and a lost job and a million other things besides” made the doctors advice the television star take some time off.
An idea Jezza apparently embraced, as he thought it’s one of those businesspeople’s retreat “filled with Scandinavian furniture and half-naked Vietnamese women who’d spend all day smearing my eyes with cucumber juice”.
It turns out the place was more a prison for the former Top Gear star, who claims what he hated most about it were the yoga classes that did anything but help him.
