Since there was no official statement about it, everybody took earlier rumors for granted. But worry not, Jezza made sure he set things clear as the bright, blue sky. The name of the new car show Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are already filming won’t be called “Gear Knobs.” It will start with the long expected hypercar trio clash, though.
“I see that many people think our new show is called Gear Knobs. Well, you heard it here first. It isn’t.”

Sounds like the Jeremy Clarkson we all know. But please, what will it be instead? Unfortunately, we are not able to assist you with that. As a matter of fact, we’re pretty sure the Amazon Prime team still hasn’t quite figured out the cognomen. We could, however, discuss a little of how Jezza almost turned into a farmer, if it weren’t for the e-commerce giant’s proposal.

Did we say a farmer? Oh, yes, precisely. You see, the lead singer of a world renown boy band that used to be called Top Gear said it out loud: he was going to wave goodbye to the automotive planet. Well, not entirely, since no petrolhead can cut his gasoline heart out and replace it with a flower. But if we were to look at the TV presenter’s The Sunday Times’ Driving supplement, he was this close to cut his relationship with the car biz for good.

“I didn’t really know what I was going to do. A large part of me considering the appealing option of ‘nothing at all’. A smaller part thought I should change tack and do a program about farming,” said Clarkson. Jezza claims he also had no idea what would happen with his fellow team members. But then:

“Riding over the horizon on a white charger, in a brown cardboard envelope, came Amazon. It took us to its London headquarters and showed us the tech it had lined up for the very near future, made us an offer in English - well, it was in American, actually, but that’s close enough - and that was that; we had a new home.”

Still, what could be a great name for this show, we wonder.
