So Jeremy Clarkson tested the C7 Corvette Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package and he didn’t like it as much as the C7 Corvette Stingray. The thing is, Top Gear Magazine voted the supercharged bruiser from the U. S. of A. as its “Muscle Car of the Year,” which is saying something about the discrepancy between the mag and the former Top Gear show helmsman.
Dwelling further into the past, we remember the USA muscle car road trip and Jeremy praising the C6 ZR1 as follows: “Man, this is great.... it’s also such a joy to have all this power and all this handling and a proper manual gearbox... this is a masterpiece!” When Jezza reviewed the C6 Corvette Z06 on the Top Gear test track, he complained about the plastics and the little sense this type of car makes in the United Kingdom.
Jeremy Clarkson and the gang are supposedly negotiating with Netflix right now, but what the future holds doesn’t interest us at the present moment. Remember the cryptic tweet on the C7 Corvette Z06 from May 5th? As it happens, Jeremy reviewed the American brute at Thruxton to publish his thoughts on it in the Sunday Times Driving.

If you’re not in the mood to read it, I’ll sum it up. The pros: huge grunt from the supercharged LT4 small-block V8, louder than a space rocket, Porsche 911 Turbo performance. The cons: hyper-twitchy steering, understeers... then flips you round with even a dab of throttle, dim auto transmission and no flappy pedals.
In the ‘Vette’s defense, Jeremy agrees that he likes the 2015 Corvette Stingray “a very lot,” and that it is “a car I would very much like to own” if it weren’t for some niggles. In the Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package’s case, Clarkson ends his review this way: “what we have with the Z06 is Disney trying to do a hard-hitting documentary about Africa’s civil wars. Naturally, it hasn’t really worked.”
