Jean Todt Supported by the French Federation

The race for the FIA presidency is apparently going to be an interesting battle in October. The newest information on the matter came from France, where the president of the motor racing federation openly said he is backing fellow countryman Jean Todt for the FIA presidency.

We remind you that Jean Todt will compete against former Finnish rally driver Ari Vatanen for the FIA's presidency after Max Mosely's departure in October.

The French motor racing federation president believes that, if elected, Jean Todt will help put France back in the Formula One calendar.

"We obviously support Jean Todt. His career speaks for itself", said Nicolas Deschaux, president of the Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile (FFSA), in an interview for the French newspaper La Tribune.

"It's hard to find a place in F1. Times are tough economically, but we remain attentive. We have identified several projects and continue to fight to try to have a Grand Prix de France", said Deschaux.

"In this context, a French official at the head of the FIA could make our job easier", disclosed the French motor racing federation president.

The former Ferrari tactician seems to enjoy a lot of publicly declared support from different key persons involved in motorsport. With all of them trying to influence decisions and gain an advantage over the others, this situation could very sadly lead to a point where motorsport becomes just business.
