Jaguar XF Diesel Completes Journey Across America

Last week, a brand new 2.2-liter diesel version of the Jaguar XF was shipped over to America in order to prove its GT abilities and its frugalness. Now, the automaker has announced the white saloon has managed to cross 11 states and three time zones to get from New York to Los Angeles.
The XF 2.2 Diesel averaging an incredible 62.9 mpg over 2,884-miles – making it the most efficient Jaguar ever created.

“This project was designed primarily to test the potential economy of the XF 2.2. The incredible figures achieved by the car were accomplished through making every element of the new XF as efficient as possible – from its aerodynamics to its four-cylinder 2.2-litre diesel engine linked to an eight-speed gearbox. The whole XF team is incredibly proud of what's been achieved and it's a graphic demonstration of the strength, engineering integrity and efficiency of the car,”
said Paul Alcock, XF Project Manager, Jaguar Cars, who was present throughout the journey.

The white XF you see is a standard off the factory floor. It’s supposed to be the first XF in the US of A, but it’s actually got UK plates and a steering wheel on the right. The 2.2-liter engine isn’t as boring as it might sound, because it produces 190 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. It can propel the XF to 60 mph in 8 seconds and on to a top speed of 140 mph.
