Unofficial information indicating that Jaguar is working on a BMW 3-Series rival has been floating around for quite a while and now that a new 3er is out, we also get new rumors.
Automotive News (sub. req.) writes that Jaguar officials have confirmed working on a compact sedan, but said that the car is still a few years away from the market arrival.
Like we said, the potential Jaguar XS sedan has been rumored before, but have never received a detail that would really confirm the story.
We have top admit that Jag has steadily been improving its product range with creations that proved to be top-class, but the company really has a lot to make up for in this case, since its last attempt, the X-type, wasn't even a proper Jaguar, being actually more of a Ford.
But the cat has moved on now, it is owned by Tata Motors, so there are a lot of chances for it to give us a good BWM 3 Series competitor.
