The Leaping Cat from Great Britain is on a bit of a roll as of late. After introducing the jaw-dropping F-Type sports car, the Jaguar marque followed with the XE and second-generation XF. However, the upcoming F-Pace has the makings of a true game changer.
Boiled down to its core, the 2016 Jaguar F-Pace is, above all else, the outfit’s first-ever SUV. The rumor mill hints that the production-ready F-Pace will use some of the Range Rover Evoque’s bits and bobs. That’s not surprising if you take into consideration that Tata Motors owns both Jag and Land Rover.
What could come as a surprise is that the F-Pace could be up to 40 cm (15.7 inches) longer than the compact luxury crossover SUV from Range Rover. In recent 2016 Jaguar F-Pace-related news,AutoCar had a chat with Jaguar brand director Steven de Ploey, learning that the model will debut at IAA 2015 in September.
The Frankfurt Motor Show seems fitting as the place of unveiling, considering that the F-Pace is planned to go on sale in the first quarter of 2016. Dubbed as being a “sports crossover,” the F-Pace will be manufactured at the Solihull plant. Regarding the powertrain options, you’ll like what you hear next.
While an all-electric F-Pace hasn’t been confirmed yet, the cream of the crop will most likely be the F-Pace S. Expected to be powered by a 3.0L S/C V6 with 340 HP, this derivative will be the most potent powertrain option offered. If six cylinders seem like overkill, Jaguar will most probably offer 2.0 Ingenium engines too.
