Following last month’s tease of a mysterious concept vehicle, Infiniti is finally shedding some light as to what kind of vehicle it plans to unveil next month at the Paris Motor Show. The previous glimpse of this car was limited to a close-up of the grille, but now we’re really getting to see the scope of this new concept, the Infiniti Q80 Inspiration.
Confirming recent reports, this new concept shows that Infiniti is indeed working on a four-door flagship sedan with intentions of going up against the Porsche Panamera. Although most of the details of this car are obscured in the teaser image, we can definitely see the prominent fastback roofline design. It’s not clear how much of a rear overhang this concept car will have, but its long nose is obvious.
Since the existence of this Porsche-chasing concept is true, we hope the car’s rumored powertrain comes to fruition as well, which includes a twin-turbo V-6 capable of producing as much as 700 hp. As Infiniti promised in its previous press release, the Q80 Inspiration concept car will be “on a scale not seen before,” and it will be interesting to see how much larger this car is than the Q70 lineup.
The debut of the Q80 Inspiration should be a positive sign for Infiniti, which has had a rough summer. In the span of less than two months, Infiniti has lost two of its top executives to rival automakers. In July, then-president Johan de Nysschen announced he was departing to lead GM’s Cadillac division, and just last week, chief planning officer and executive vice president Andy Palmer (and also Infiniti’s interim president following de Nysschen’s departure) left to become CEO of Aston Martin.
The Infiniti Q80 Inspiration will officially break cover on October 2 during the media days for the Paris Motor Show, and it will be on display for visitors to ogle from October 4-19.
