Usually, a drag race between a BMW F13 M6 and a BMW X6 M would be a no-brainer. The massive Sports Activity Coupe that weighs about 2.4 tones is 0.4 seconds slower to 100 km/h (62 mph) than its smaller brother, despite having the benefit of all-wheel-drive.
Both cars have similar engines in stock guise, the difference being just 5 HP. Furthermore, they share the same 7-speed DCT gearbox but the M6 is around 500 kilos (1,100 lbs) lighter and a lot more aerodynamic.

All those numbers are completely irrelevant though, as both rivals have been seriously tuned beforehand. The M6 is now making 680 HP instead of the stock 560 HP whilst the X6 was taken even further, to a mind staggering 850 HP figure. God only knows how much torque is being squeezed out of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8.

So, will nearly 200 extra HP be enough to compensate for the weight and aerodynamics difference? No spoilers here, mister! Check out the video for the answer.

As an outro, the X6 M does a couple more runs on the track after the in-house showdown, one against a 1,200 HP Porsche. Pretty interesting stuff.
