It seems like the Illinois authorities are set on improving the road safety: after banning tall ape hangers and wheelies, under pain of fines and even jail time, the State University announces that motorcycle safety courses are to be given for free to anyone interested.
The summer and fall class offerings include motorcycle safety lectures in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation. The courses are open for basic, intermediate and experienced riders and their goal is to reduce the severity and frequency of motorcycle accidents.
Illinois residents aged 16 and more and who have a valid driver's license or permit are eligible for online registration. Classes are held in Normal, Springfield, Decatur, Canton, Galesburg, East Peoria, LaSalle and East Moline.
The organizers are providing motorcycles and helmets for the basic and intermediate participants, but experienced riders must provide their own bike.
