Illegal Immigrants Caught in F1 Trucks

Formula One trucks are commonly used by teams – or the Formula One Management – to carry heavy equipment from race to race, throughout the 19-event schedule each year. However, every once in a while, somebody takes advantage of some minor flaws in the logistics of each organization and uses these trucks in transportation purposes.

Such was the case of the some trucks returned to FOM's Biggin Hill headquarters in Kent from the recent Monaco Grand Prix. According to recent reports, it seems that no less than 5 illegal immigrants were found in these canvas-sided trucks, trying to make their entry into Great Britain from Africa.

It was reported that the African stowaways boarded to the trucks in Calais, choosing one that was carrying F1's broadcasting equipment from the Principality. And their plan would have gone great all the way hadn't the truck drivers discovered them once they got to British lands.

Bernie Ecclestone's Formula One Management took immediate actions and reported the incident to the authorities, handing them the illegal immigrants. The news was later confirmed by a UK Border Agency spokesperson.

This is the first time we have had such a problem,” said a spokesman for the Formula One Management.

Luckily, no other such incident occurred with the rest of the trucks heading back to the UK, as the majority of the teams have their base in the UK – all except for Ferrari, STR, BMW Sauber-Ferrari and HRT F1. However, most of them have headed from Monaco directly to Turkey anyway, to speed up preparations for the race this weekend.
