In between various monsters present at a recent roll racing event at Pocono Raceway, the good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YT are briefly back at their usual venue - Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey.
The videographer has been steadily churning out great 65-mile roll racing action from 'The Tricky Triangle,' a legendary racetrack nestled in the Pocono Mountains in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. It usually gets big crowds during the summer via NASCAR and ARCA Menards Series events, but in the meantime, RaceMotive has a great season of roll racing events.

The inaugural skirmishes were 65-mph 1/3-mile (1,760-foot) roll-racing SxS Shootouts, and the event naturally attracted a lot of participants, including exotics like a McLaren 570S, modded representatives of the Big Detroit Three, as well as tuned import racers. Anyway, if the action there sounds delightful when the descriptions involve cars with more than 1,000 horsepower on tap, we shouldn't discard the lower-tier models.

So, back for a minute at Island Dragway, the host captured on camera a Hyundai Sonata N-Line that went above and beyond its family sedan call of duty to try and show a Chevy Camaro, a turbo Honda Civic, and even a Pontiac G8 who's boss at the quarter-mile dragstrip. The good news is that we didn't expect too much action but were quickly proven wrong.

First and foremost, the Sonata lined up with a Chevy Camaro Convertible, and both did their best to prevail – they screeched their tires and roared their engines past the finish line to give us the first surprise: 13.3s for the victor and 14.49s for the loser. Alas, the Hyundai wasn't the latter but the former! With the Sonata easily put into the proper perspective, it went against a turbo front-wheel drive Honda Civic hatchback rascal later during the night.

However, it didn't lose its temper, and again, it claimed the laurels with a 13.59s versus 14.23s pass. Last but not least, a once-mighty Pontiac G8 also dared to ask for a quarter-mile dragstrip round and almost lost its footing (luckily, the driver quickly regained control) while trying to show the nasty Hyundai Sonata N-Line who's the dragstrip boss. As it turns out, the latter was, hence the photo-finish 13.65s versus 13.68s victory.

Of course, some will argue that without that moment when the Pontiac G8 almost slipped and skidded across the tarmac into a spin and crash, it would have been easy to gain the laurels. Naturally, that could have been the case – but it wasn't. A victory is a win, no matter what the adversary did or didn't do. Besides, it was a clean one, and we have to say that although the times weren't great (for this day and age), we were still impressed by the consistency of both the driver and his trusty Hyundai Sonata N-Line.
