Hyundai's new European Test Center near the iconic Nurburgring track is now officially opened, with the Korean automaker cutting the ribbon in an opening ceremony that marked the completion of the €6.62 ($8.94) million facility.
15 months it took Hyundai to complete the Nurburgring Test Center that has 3,622 square meters (40,000 square feet) of floor space in a glass and steel building that houses workshops, offices and hospitality areas over four floors.

The new test center enables the automaker to conduct extensive testing around the Nurburgring track, with each car to lap the famed course 480 times in both dry and wet conditions, which translates in over 100,000 miles of rigorous driving.

"The Nurburgring is a unique challenge for any vehicle, so it is the perfect location for our new facility. The new European Test Centre is a natural extension of our Technical Centre in Russelsheim, and enables Hyundai Motor to more quickly and more accurately test the reliability and driveability of our vehicles. The emotional appeal of being 'tested at Nurburgring' will also help to further build the brand's reputation across Europe," said Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and COO of Hyundai Europe.
