The N2025 concept car Hyundai is showing at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 today is not just a way for the Koreans to show off. This Le Mans racer from the digital world is accompanied by the World Rally Championship (WRC) version of the i20. Together, they officially debut the N performance sub-brand.
That's right, just like Volkswagen has the GTI and Renault the RS, Hyundai too will soon have N-badged cars that go fast. For those wondering what the letter "N" stands for, it's all about the connection between Namyang (Hyundai Motor's global R&D network) and the Nurburgring.

Until we actually see an i30 N duking it out with the Golf R, let's just focus on the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo. This concept is definitely the boldest Hyundai has ever made, and our colleagues gathered in Frankfurt are already calling it a supercar. That's a bit ambitious!

Because the model is designed to compete on the PlayStation, not in the real world, designers were allowed to be as crazy as they liked. The result is a barrage of wings, air intakes, and ground-hugging diffusers. The best view of all is from the back, where a tall fin reminds us of the Porsche 919 and Audi R18 e-tron.

For now, Hyundai doesn't have any plans to enter endurance racing and compete with the Germans. But at the pace of growth we've come to expect from the Koreans, the time will come when they will have a Le Mans car. After all, 2025 is a decade away, plenty of time to figure things out.

The total power output that comes out of this beast is a whopping 871 HP (650 kW), with the dual fuel cell stacks providing 670 HP (500 kW) of that.

Besides the carbon fiber elements and the semi-open suspension system, we loved the light blue paint. It's Hyundai's new motorsport color and reminds us of cars from the 90s. Of course, you will be able to paint the 2025 N in red, white, black and any other color in the Gran Turismo racing game. It's up to you to race it against the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo and find out which is fastest!

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
