Hyundai, one of the FIFA top partners, has initiated a program called “1 Million Dream Balls for Africa”, with the project being aimed at commemorating the company’s 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa sponsorship. The program debuted yesterday, June 1, with Yuna Kim, South Korea’s figure skating gold medalist donating the football. “The balls will be delivered under the names of people who buy a Hyundai car from the company’s worldwide sales networks and members of Hyundai’s 2010 FIFA World Cup micro-website, fifaworldcup.hyundai.com, who wish to take a part in the project. This project will last until the 1 millionth Hyundai fan in the world participates,” stated the press release.
The ball signed by Yuna Kim will arrive in Johannesburg on June 8 and when all the balls get delivered together with participants’ names, NGOs including UN’s affiliated organizations will distribute them to 50 countries in Africa.
