Ford and Hurst’s marriage has given birth to another brilliant special edition Mustang. We are talking about the 2010 Hurst Mustang Pace Car, which will be the official pace car for this year’s Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Series.
The one-off vehicle has made its debut at the Virginia International Raceway on April 25. The ‘Stang will also make special appearances at the Hot Rod Power Tour, at numerous Larry H. Miller dealerships across the country and at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
The muscle car is powered by a 550 hp and 542 lb-ft of torque V8 engine, which uses a Ford Racing polished supercharger, Ford Racing FR500S stainless steel cat back exhaust and a K&N air filter. However, the vehicle is not all about straight line power, as it also features a Ford Racing suspension and a Ford Racing braking system that uses 14 inch rotors and four piston calipers.
But this Ford has a higher purpose in life than just showing off his extra 200 hp to the FR500s Mustang race cars, as it will be auctioned for charity in January 2011. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. The action will also be sponsored by Larry H. Miller Dealership group.
"Hurst has a history of creating unique, high-quality, emotionally-charged muscle cars and the 2010 Hurst Ford Racing Mustang Challenge pace car is no different," said Nate Shelton, Chairman of Hurst Performance Vehicles. "We are so proud to have yet another opportunity to set the pace for others to follow and give something back to a deserving organization."
