Racecars are known for their overheating interiors. With all that insulating materials stripped out, plastic windows that don’t quite open and no air conditioning, the exhaust system running right beneath the floor will at some point heat up the cockpit.
If it’s a cold rainy day, or you’re rallying somewhere in Sweden, that will be OK, but if you’re in the desert riding dunes, 70 degrees Celsius will feel like hell. Adding the fact that you wear a fire-proof suit and a helmet, next to the fact that you are constantly drinking, sweating and have to pee while you drive, suddenly racing doesn’t sound that awesome.
