Hot Wheels No. 24 Dad’s Root Beer IRL Racecar Unveiled

Boys' toys (not only boys, we're sure) manufacturer Hot Wheels presented yesterday the No. 24 Dad’s Root Beer IRL racecar, prior to it being put on display at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The car, made together with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and Dad's Root Beer, has been presented by team driver Mike Conway.

“For more than four decades, Hot Wheels has been passionate about speed, power, performance and creating the most thrilling vehicle designs," said Christian Zentner, director of marketing at Hot Wheels.

“We are excited to expand our presence on track with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and another iconic brand, Dad’s Root Beer, and design a one-of-a-kind racecar livery like only Hot Wheels can. We look forward to seeing this awesome racecar cross the finish line in June.”

The racecar has been originally created as a 1:64 scale model and is part of the Hot Wheels 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series product line. It turned full size as a means to honor the Father’s Day weekend on June 20, when it will be present and compete on the Iowa Speedway. A 1:64 scale version of the car is available for purchase by fans.

As for the defining race of the IndyCar series, the Indy 500 event, it will witness a unique moment during the three parade laps. Actor Mark Wahlberg will be the passenger of a custom-built, one-off two-seat Indy car dubbed IZOD Fastest Seat in Sports, which will be driven by Michael Andretti. The moment marks the first time in history when a driver and passenger will join the field of the Indy 500 race in a two seater IZOD car.
