If you are a woman and all your husband does is talk about a girl named Danica Patrick, then here's yet another reason for you to get pi**ed: your little boy will now start talking Danica as well. Why? Well, Hot Wheels became a sponsor for JR Motorsports and Danica Patrick and made the female driver design a Hot Wheel... And trust us, your husband will buy one for his son.
According to Autoblog, what will become known as the Danicar is the first celebrity-designed car from Hot Wheels, even if she is not to be credited entirely for the car (the Hot Wheels desing team must have given her more than a hand...).
The car, which is more of a IndyCar replica than a stock car one, is yellow with red flames and will be part of the toymaker's 1:64-scale assortment. It will not be built in a limited run, despite it's collectible appeal. It features an open cockpit, three sets of different size wheels and adjustable wings on the front and back.
"Speed, power and performance and the ultimate race car -- that is what connects Hot Wheels, JR Motorsports and Danica," Simon Waldron, vice president, Wheels Marketing at Mattel said in a release.
"Our partnership provides a real world association between our brand and the biggest names in racing, and we are thrilled to be partnering with them in 2010."
"My life is all about high velocity cars, and the only car company I could imagine being able to create my vision of the ultimate fantasy car is Hot Wheels," Danica Patrick, the toy car designer added. "On the track, I am looking forward to speeding towards the finish line in true Hot Wheels style."
