Honda has stated outright that its envious of Nissan’s success with the Qashqai in Europe, where the city-dwelling off-roader is outselling the whole Honda lineup. In order to find an answer for this, the manufacturer plans to offer a much smaller SUV than the CR-V which is to be based on the new Civic’s platform.
The fact that the hatchback architecture will be used and not the US-built sedan means that a North American arrival of the new vehicle will prove difficult if not unlikely. The vehicle hasn’t got a name yet, but it will likely go on sale early next year, according to AutoExpress.

Honda’s sales in Europe have been halved in the past three years, and this new vehicles stands a chance of recovering the lost ground.
