Honda used the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas to introduce a pack of new accessories for the Civic, Fit and Ridgeline series, with several customized models displayed since the first day of the exhibition. More importantly, Honda says that the majority of these tuning parts will be delivered to dealerships across the country in early 2009, but no price details are available for the time being.
"From cars to light trucks, Honda products have always been great platforms for customization," said Jim Roach, senior vice president of Parts and Service for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Honda Genuine Accessories offer our owners the ability to personalize their vehicles while enhancing appearance, performance and functionality."
A 2009 tuned Honda Fit customized with MUGEN accessories was also displayed at SEMA, with most of these parts to be included in the 2009 Honda catalog. The accessories range includes 16-inch alloy wheels, front sports grille, front, rear and side spoilers, rear emblem, sports silencer, quick shifter, shift knob, sport pedals and aluminum oil filler cap. All these parts are manufactured by MUGEN, under license by M-TEC Co., Ltd., Honda said in a press statement.
The Japanese carmarker also unveiled a Civic Honda Factory Performance Concept sedan which is said to provide much more performance than the production Civic model, but without altering the fuel consumption. Moreover, it also features a newly-designed body kit, super-light alloy wheels with aerodynamic cover plus enhanced suspension kit with lighter exhaust system.
The truck lineup also received a customized model, with the 2009 Ridgeline Powersports Concept featuring a front accessory grille with black experimental finish 18-inch wheels. Honda mentioned that all the 2009 Ridgeline accessories, excepting the black wheel finish and the grille surround, are already available at Honda's authorized dealerships.
