It seems that the downsizing trend is catching on in Australia as well, since during the January sales month Holden has sold more Cruze models than they did the Commodore. Last month, 2445 Cruzes were delivered, while during the same period only 2170 of the larger car found homes.
Last year’s big news was that the 15-year grip on the top of the Australian sales charts was broken by the Mazda3. And it looks like it will get much worse, as in 18 percent less Commodores were sold last month compared to January 2011, and it’s now the number four selling car there.

The Top 10 chart was increasingly dominated by smaller cars - Mazda3, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30, Mazd2, Toyota Yaris or Ford Focus, most relative newcomers in Australia.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
