Hockey Puck-Shaped Device Honks When You're a Bad Driver

Honk, you’re too close to the Prius driving in front of you. Honk, you forgot to hit the turn signal before turning left. Honk, switching from one lane to the other like a Formula One racer is not what you’re supposed to do on a regular highway. That’s what CArVi does and if you’re lucky (or is it unlucky?) enough it might just hit the market.

Sure, if you’re making enough money to afford a newer Bimmer or a Volvo SUV for instance, this device is not really needed that much. No, the black device you mount on the car’s windshield is something you’d buy if you’re still driving that old Honda Accord and you want to make driving it safer. As the driver speeds down the road or highway, the gadget - which connects to your smartphone - uses its app to constantly analyze video captured, looking for possible dangers.

It looks after things such as unsafe lane changes, front-end collision risk, reckless driving and a variety of other dangerous behavior. The device is meant to both alert the driver to the potential for danger and analyze it so the driver can later understand how to better operate the car.

Distracted driving due to smartphone use is one of the major reasons for car accident. With CarVi, your smartphone will transform from an enemy on the road into your guardian,” the device is presented in a IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign.

Will it get the proper funds to actually turn a plan into reality? Our guess is yes, since they already have raised half of the $100,000 goal and the campaign started less than a week ago.
