Since driving at highway speeds requires a different technique to any other sort of driving, it’s only natural that drivers calculate everything within higher tolerances of distance. If you see another car braking in front of you, even if it’s far away, you prepare to brake or start doing it immediately.
The German driver in this video is clearly driving considerably faster than the law allows, and when cars start stopping and piling up in front of him, he fails to react in time, and despite the fact that he does begin to brake at one point, it is nowhere near enough for him to stop safely.
