If you ignore the equally powerful RS7, the RS6 Avant is without a doubt a model that stands head above shoulders amongst the Audi lineup. Its 4-liter twin-turbo V8 is equipped with the very latest tech from the quattro division, but just like any stock car there is a lot of untapped potential. Just how much potential? Keep reading and find out.
French chip tuning firm Digiserivces has just welcomed one very grey example of the RS6 into its workshop. Their aim being to unlock the mighty Avant's power, a Vbox was fitted with the following results:
Power has increased from the stock 560 PS (577 PS actual figure) to 663 PS delivered at 6050 rpm, about the same as it would have been on the stock unit. Meanwhile, torque is up from 700 Nm to 817 Nm reached at 4,862rpm.
This is, of course, just the tip of the iceberg, as the stage 1 kit affects only the management of the mighty twin-breathing V8 engine. But it will give you a great example of what can be achieved with just an afternoon's worth of tuning. The Vbox has had quite an impact on the performance of the RS6, which now packs more power than a McLaren 12C or Ferrari 458.
