The ill-fated Ford Pinto was a vehicle even the Blue Oval-badged company hates talking about. And we can’t really blame them, as they had to pay compensatory and punitive damages, over the car’s flawed rear-mounted fuel tank design, of no less than $6 million in 1972.
However, some enthusiasts don’t seem to be bothered by the Pinto’s troubled past and still enjoy using them, either as restored vehicles or as V8-powered drag racers. So does Cory Heckenlaible, who even manages to put on quite a show with its yellow-painted Pinto.

We’re not talking about record-breaking quarter-mile times, but a couple of spectacular wheel stands that prove this subcompact can be more than just a potential fireball on wheels. Just scroll below to watch the videos.
