Harvick Wins Nashville with Two Fresh Tires

Despite some of his opposition boasting four fresh tires towards the end of the race, Kevin Harvick managed to outrun them with only two and win the Nationwide Series' Nashville 300 race. It is the second win for Harvick in the current season.

"To come here on your off-weekend, and to win the guitar in Nashville is pretty cool," Harvick said according to TSN. "Crew chief Ernie Cope made the right pit call there, and everybody did a great job on pit road today."

"I knew we had 25-30 laps to hold them off and [the car] got tighter than we would have wanted it to. But we had the track position and it worked out. ... It was definitely fun. It's a lot more fun when you win."

Having taken only two tires, Harvick exited the pits first and lead through caution when less than 35 laps were left. In the closing laps, he had to battle Sorenson and his four fresh tires, winning to to Toyota driver by only 0.2 seconds.

"I really thought a lot more people would put two tires on because the tires really didn't fall off that much," Harvick said. "Ours didn't fall off that much. I hate putting two tires on. Tonight, we put two tires on and it worked out for us. ... Track position was more important than the handling of the car."

The Nashville race was also the first of four "Dash 4 Cash" Nationwide races, bringing the Richard Childress Racing driver a $25,000 bonus.

Harvick was followed on the podium by Reed Sorenson and Kyle Busch. The top five for the Nashville 300 race was completed by Justin Allgaier and Brad Keselowski.
