Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 Runs Monday at Noon

As was to be expected ever since Friday, the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 race at Martinsville Speedway has been postponed until today (Monday) at noon, due to increasingly wet weather conditions.

The postponement came after rain began one hour prior to the scheduled start and kept up until the governing body decided to call it a day at 2:30 PM. For Monday, the weather forecast is favorable, NASCAR reports, with clouds to make their presence, but with only 10 percent chances of them turning into rain.

"It stinks for the fans and all the teams, but the fortunate thing is we've got an off week coming up, so it's not like this is going to put everybody way behind," AJ Allmendinger was quoted as saying by NASCAR.

"I'm happy whenever I get to be in the car, whether that's Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. When we get to drop the green, I know we'll be ready to go."

On Monday, the race will start with Kevin Harvick in pole, seconded by Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson. Greg Biffle and Tony Stewart complete the top five in the lineup.

The Martinsville race will be the first to use the rear spoiler instead of a rear wing, a spoiler so often tested until now. A spoiler, drivers say, which does little to change the behavior of the cars.

"For me, they put that spoiler on the car, and I've run more testing laps than I have in two years. And its like, man, we need to race so we don't have to test anymore,"
Harvick said. "But that's just how I feel about it."

"You can test and test and test. But until you drop the green flag with 43 cars out there, that's really the only time you can tell what's going on, because there's no way to simulate that."
