Hamilton Teams Up with Henrik Stenson in Pro-Am Golf Tournament

Reigning champions Lewis Hamilton may have had a disastrous weekend in Monaco, where he only finished 12th best during the Sunday race, but he made the most of his presence in the Principality to play a round of nine in the company of former two-time McLaren champion Mika Hakkinen.

According to media reports last weekend, the British driver apparently took a new set of clubs with him when arriving to Monaco. As far as his precision goes, Ham admitted he is not playing the game like a pro, but he loves it.

Soon after the chequered flag was waved over the Monte Carlo race, the 24-year old Briton decided to spend the night in the Monegasque city, as he found out Hakkinen was also in town and scheduled to spend the next day on the golf court.

According to the GMM news agency, it seems Hamilton was only warming up for his first pro-am tournament in career, scheduled to begin yesterday at the London Golf Club in north Kent. Also submitting to the LGC tournament entry list was world's no. 5 Henrik Stenson (winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour), who was to play alongside the McLaren driver.

Golf and racing seem to go along well in the Kent district, as the London Golf Club is only a few miles away from Brands Hatch circuit, on the other side of the M20 highway. The pro-am event on Wednesday stands for the introduction of the European Open, due to start later this morning.
