A bunch of months ago, the two members of the Hamilton family decided to go their separate ways, with Hamilton focusing on his F1 career without a manager telling him what to do and how to behave, and Ham Sr. starting up his own F1 school using old McLaren Mercedes cars. Weeks later, it was reported that the two are not on very good terms, some media stories linking this state of events with Anthony's negative feelings towards his son's girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.
However, prior to this weekend's British GP, Lewis told the media that he sent his father an invitation to the Silverstone event, but is yet to receive a definitive answer.
“I think he's coming,” said Ham, according to some reports cited by the GMM news agency. “I have invited him. I've invited all my family. I think he's going on Saturday night.”
“I have got grandstand tickets so I said you can choose whether you want to be in the paddock or you can go in the grandstand. He should go into the paddock, but then he should go and experience something different because he has always watched it either from TV or in the paddock,” added the British ace.
And while this may be clearly viewed as a major step towards reconciliation by Lewis, the McLaren racer made it very clear that he's happy with the decision he made prior to the 2010 season, which was taking his F1 career into his own hands.
“I've just grown. I'm still learning so many things and I'm pretty much managing myself now - taking the reins and controlling things. I feel quite proud that I've not just rushed into this or that (new) management and that I've told people to be patient,” added Hamilton.
