Hamilton Backfires at Alonso's Comments

Needless to say, when Fernando Alonso opened his mouth after the European Grand Prix at Valencia and accused Lewis Hamilton of not respecting the rules when passing the safety car on the track, a war of words would continue between the two.

Following that statement, Alonso made one more comment that seems to have angered his former McLaren teammate, which was that he would never team up with Hamilton again in his entire F1 career. Being that Ferrari also backed his point of view after the race – which he said was “manipulated” – Hamilton backfired immediately.

I even saw him overtaken by a Sauber on the big screen (referring to Kamui Kobayashi's pass on Alonso on the penultimate lap). It's very unlike him to be overtaken by a Sauber so he must have been completely in another world. But I don't understand why I affected his race so much,” said Hamilton, according to planetf1.com

Everyone has a right to their opinion, and he must be disappointed with his own result, but I didn't do anything to him,” added the British champion, who was actually given a drive-through penalty for overtaking the SC – although quite late in the race. However, he continued by praising the stewards' work this season.

The FIA are doing an incredible job because they are allowing us to race this year,” concluded Hamilton.

Needless to say, he does have a point about Kobayashi passing Alonso in the penultimate lap of the race, although one might argue that the Japanese driver was competing on fresh tires and Alonso's compounds were close to disintegrating in the final stages of the race. Nevertheless, going back to the safety car issue, can anyone even remember the number of times the F1 stewards' decisions played out in favor of Hamilton this season... ?
