The Porsche Cayenne has been a tuners’ favorite ever since it first came out. It was probably the novelty of a Porsche SUV that drew every possible tuning house to it, with results varying greatly from “hmm, decent” to “please don’t make me look at this thing twice” and the very rare “I would so buy that.”
The smaller Macan, on the other hand, has gone a little under the radar by comparison, with only a few noticing its existence. And looking at the way the mid-sized SUV looks, you have to wonder why that is the case.
It is by far the best looking car in its class, and I do believe it’s going to stay that way even after the arrival of the Jaguar F-Pace. Hell, it would walk out with its head up high after a design comparison with any other car currently available, if you ask me.
And maybe that’s exactly why not that many tuners dare touch it. The closer a car is to visual perfection, the harder it is for anybody to think about messing with those looks. It makes sense: have you seen people with perfect noses getting a nose job?
Still, there are braver tuners out there who dare mess around with the Macan, and Hamann is one of them. It has done it before, but that outcome was a lot less discreet than what we’re about to show you.
In true Hamann style, the Macan gets a full wide-body kit complete with flared wheel arches, new front and rear bumpers and side skirts. This will set you back precisely €9,950 ($11,326), but unless you have a shed and a lot of time on your hands, you’re going to have to pay for fitting as well. That’s another €2,250 ($2,560) flying out of your wallet, but you’ll instantly feel better by looking at how the car turned out. Especially if you opt for the €3,450 ($3,927) paintwork.
Those stock wheels, though, they look a little lost now. It’s time to write a €5,510 ($6,268) cheque and get the 22-inch Hamann Anniversary EVO wheels you see on this Macan over here. Don’t cry, they come complete with tires, adapter discs and everything.
Oh, and all this for a diesel model. But don’t worry, uncle Hamann will take your money for some little engine upgrades as well. No less than €2,190 ($2,494), to be exact, for a boost to 310 hp and 501 lb-ft (680 Nm) from the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine. And that’s it, there’s no more money to be spent on this Macan makeover that, it has to be said, is one of the best we’ve seen so far.
Unless, of course, you want to throw €3,250 ($3,700) on an active exhaust muffler that won’t do anything else but tickle the ears of those you pass by.
