Gruppo Campari announced it has renewed its agreement with MotoGP until at least 2013. The company's therefore stays as an official MotoGP sponsor. However, though so far the Cinzano brand was promoted through this deal until 2009, for the 2010 season, the beverage company will switch focus on Aperol.
The relationship between the two started ten years ago and since then, the Cinzano has become one of the main brands associated with MotoGP. As well as being a trackside sponsor, the drink has also been title sponsor of Grands Prix such as the Spanish and Italian events.
Gruppo Campari therefore decided it was time to increase the popularity of another of their products, so it will promote the Aperol aperitif through its title sponsorship of the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya and GP Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini events.
"I'm extremely delighted that after 10 years working with Gruppo Campari, they now place their trust in us to help take on a new challenge with Aperol until 2013. Aperol Spritz is a very popular beverage amongst young European adults, and fans of MotoGP races provide the perfect target audience. This is why I'm convinced that the combination Aperol and MotoGP will be very successful," Paul Serracanta, Dorna Sports S.L. Managing Director, said in a release.
"After the fruitful experience with Cinzano, we are convinced Aperol's international expansion plans will benefit both in terms of consumer awareness and global presence from the tremendous international exposure granted by such a sponsorship," added Cesare Vandini, Group Marketing Director of Gruppo Campari.
