Grosjean to Race at Singapore Despite Food Poisoning

Renault have gotten rid of at least one problem prior to the official start of the Singapore Grand Prix. Their second driver Romain Grosjean has been cleared by the doctors to take part in this weekend's race, despite worries that his food poisoning earlier this week would prevent him from making the grid on Sunday.

On Thursday, the Frenchman went out to visit the circuit for a few minutes, after which he immediately went back to the hotel to recover from the aforementioned “illness”. Consequently, Renault's reserve driver Luca di Grassi was seen in the team's garage doing a cockpit extrication test with the Renault mechanics.

All worries have stopped this afternoon, after Grosjean was seen in the Renault garage, ready to take the R29 to the first practice session on the Marina Bay Circuit. He is due to make an all-round appearance at Singapore this weekend, therefore “killing” Di Grassi's chances of experiencing a Formula One race in the series' only night race on calendar.

Late on Thursday, a couple of news brought the team's morale to a minimum prior to the Singapore race, as it was announced that both ING and Mutua Madrilena have terminated their sponsorship deals with the Enstone based outfit “with immediate effect”.

Although both Fernando Alonso's and Grosjean's R29s will not feature the logos of the two companies – as it was scrapped during the course of yesterday night – the official papers coming from Renault, as well as the driver's suits will continue to have the ING and Mutua Madrilena logos throughout the Asian race.
