Hello kids. Today we're going to school you in the meaning of the letter R. Of course it's part of the alphabet, but for Vdub fans it means so much more, it means the ultimate version of the cars sold by their favorite brand.
The Golf R has a long an glorious history of V6 machines that were both fast and comfortable. But even so, Volkswagen did not want to bring it to America. Finally, the buyers swayed them and in 2012 this car became available. The downside? It didn't have all the power and you couldn't turn the traction control off.

This one is a little special, right? It's got 3 doors which is odd for a Florida car. That's because this is clearly not US-spec, its an import from Europe. The owner also fitted these rather nice Vossen deep concave 20-inch wheels with brushed spokes. They change the stance of the car in a way Volkswagen probably never dreamed.

Two years ago, one of these bad boys would set you back about as much as an Evo: $35,000 for a car with 256-hp that weighed 3390 lbs. Of course the numbers don't tell the whole story, which which is fans in America were asking for the R in the first place. They wanted to play with it, they wanted to do this to it!

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
