Volkswagen designed the GTI as a sort of best version of the Golf. If you're not gunning it, it's quiet and refined, and you probably wouldn't even know it's a GTI unless you looked at the badge on the steering wheel.
All that refinement is good, but some people want a crazy GTI, and we think this one fits that description perfectly.
HG Motorsport is focusing a lot of its efforts on making a very fast Golf 7 GTI, and they've just swapped the standard exhaust for one without the rear resonant box, but keeping the catalyst. This no-TUV style of exhaust sounds totally abnormal, but the reduced back pressure should help the performance of that 2-liter TSI.
