It's a widely known fact that the two-peninsula state is the melting pot of General Motors operations. Although the auto giant has a lot of facilities in this region, GM plans to invest $800 million in order to modernize its factories throughout the state.
This strategic investment won't only prepare General Motors for building future models sold under the Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac brands, but will also add no less than 1,750 new jobs in the state. A part of the aforementioned sum of money needed for consolidating engineering functions in Michigan will come in the form of special state incentives.

A report published by Automotive News tells that the Michigan Strategic Fund amended an agreement with GM which will increase the number of employees the automaker can apply toward a state tax credit from 33,000 all the way to 34,750. If you want specifics, the Warren Tech Center located in suburban Detroit will employ those extra 1,750 employees.

In related news, automotive brake systems manufacturer Brembo North America Inc. was also awarded an amendment to its tax credit to allow the creation of more job openings in the state of Michigan. Moreover, a $3.5 million state grant will go into building an all-new production facility in Albion Township, Michigan, adding 254 new jobs.
