As if General Motors didn't have enough on its head already, the manufacturer announced recently three extra safety recalls and a non-compliance call back operation, all of which were reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The first recall involves light duty pickup trucks from the 2014 model year and heavy duty models from the 2015 model year. Affected vehicles are as follows: Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra LD, the Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban HD, with the addition of the GMC Sierra HD, Yukon and Yukon XL.

57,512 units of the aforementioned models might have been fitted with a base radio unit which may not work properly, preventing audible warnings if the key is inserted in the ignition when the driver's door is open. Further more, nor would there be an audible chime when the front safety belts aren't buckled. The fix to these problems is represented by a simple reprogramming of the radio control module.

Approximately 31,520 model year 2012 of the Buick Verano, Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic are called back for a defect in which the shorting bar from the dual stage driver's airbag may occasionally contact the airbag terminals. If contact occurs, the airbag warning light will illuminate and the airbag might not deploy in a crash.

Even though GM conducted two previous recalls because of this very condition with no confirmed crashes in which the issue was involved, the manufacturer announced it's aware of one accident connected to the latest batch of affected models. Dealers are to replace the steering wheel airbag coil to eliminate contact between the shorting bar and terminals.

Last but not least, 61 units of the 2013 – 2014 MY Chevrolet Spark and 2013 Buick Encore might have a condition in which the front passenger airbag cap could separate from the inflator. Also, 33 Chevrolet Corvette sports cars from the 2014 model year are recalled because an internal short-circuit in the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) could disable frontal airbag deployment, safety belt pretensioners and the Automatic Occupancy Sensing module.

In all four cases, General Motors announced that customers are to receive letters that'll inform them when to bring cars to dealer service departments, where all repair operations will be performed without cost and courtesy transporation would be provided as well.
