GM Planning to Increase Accessories Sales

It seems that the US automotive big guns are paying increased attention to their accessories business. After Chrysler’s Mopar (the company’s parts and accessories division) recently announced that it is expanding its offer for this year, it is now time to find out about what GM is doing to increase its accessories sales.

GM together with Chrome Systems, the provider of the GM Accessories Digital Solution, are introducing a new awards program that recognizes top US regional and national GM Dealers and Distributors’ accessory-related achievements.

This comes as a recognition of the increase in accessories sales revenues at GM dealerships using GM Accessories Digital Solution, which is powered by Chrome. This is the only accessories solution approved by the automaker for its dealers. It uses dynamic 360-degree, 3D visualization for most GM vehicles and a 24-hour turnaround of GM validated parts and pricing.

The inaugural GM Accessories Digital Solutions Dealer and Distributor Awards will recognize individual dealers for impressive accessories sales and per new unit retail (PNUR) volume, as well as the top use of technology in 2010. The awards will recognize regional winners and honor a national champion in the areas of top in-store process, top sales store and top distributor.

"Accessories are arguably the best way to add profit to every vehicle sold or serviced," said Philip Fallis, director, Operations – Emerging Technology, Chrome Systems. "GM dealers across the country are increasing their accessories sales and per new unit retail volume using the GM Accessories Digital Solution, powered by Chrome, and we are recognizing their success and the stellar efforts of the distributors with these awards."
