GM Ditching Hybrids for Next-Generation of Full-Sized SUVs and Pick-Ups

In order to annoy fewer green activists, GM started fitting hybrid systems to its big SUVs and pick-ups, back in May of 2004. Now, however, according to a report from gminsidenews.com, GM has shut down its hybrid program, in relation to its upcoming new generation of SUVs and pick-ups.
The hybrid versions of those vehicles may not have sold very well, as they didn’t really improve the efficiency enough to justify themselves, but they were made in the thousands. However, if GM manages to make this new wave of vehicles considerably more efficient, perhaps hybrids will become redundant anyway - we say they need to make their vehicles more efficient, for any number of reasons which we will not mention because they are already widely-known.

Ford is shedding a lot of weight from its upcoming F-150 pick-up, and perhaps, GM should follow the example. Instead of ‘bolting on’ a hybrid system on something that is extremely inefficient, GM should make their ‘tanks’ more efficient in the first place, instead of just coming out with something new for the sake of coming out with something new - they need to show that technology has moved on.
