Glock Admits He May Lose Job Due to F1 Politics

Timo Glock seems to be the first driver to acknowledge the fact that he may remain without an F1 seat next season as a result of Toyota's potential quit at the end of 2009. Well, maybe teammate Jarno Trulli feels the same way, but Glock was the first to publicly admit it, as he reckoned he can do very little to influence the Japanese car maker's F1 operations for 2010.

At the beginning of the year, Toyota have made it very clear that, unless their F1 outfit scores at least one win in 2009, their decision to withdraw from the sport is inevitable. In addition, Toyota is also a feverish opponent of the FIA-proposed budget caps (in any of its form), which will likely lead to them quitting the series following the season finale at Abu Dhabi.

The Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) seem to have found a way to communicate with Mosley on the budget cap crisis, as they are expected to accept a compromise for next year – meaning a 100 million euro budget cap, as a transitory year. However, it is believed neither Toyota, nor Ferrari want to hear nothing about a compromise on the budget limiting problem, as they don't want any form of capping in Formula One.

Talking about the very likely possibility of his team quitting the sport at the end of 2009, Glock admitted: “Clearly this relates also to my own job, but I cannot influence the politics,” as reported by Cologne newspaper Express.

Regardless of today's politics, Toyota are still to recover from a disastrous Monaco Grand Prix, where both Glock and Trulli spent most of the weekend at the rear of the field. The Cologne based team are expected to bounce back in Turkey, where they'll also to debut some new aero components on the TF109.
