Being a BMW aficionado, I’ve seen plenty of weird, terrible and even disgusting ads on the internet for various cars. However, the one I’m going to show you today, definitely takes the cake.
It’s for a BMW Isetta, the car that once made history in Europe and is still extremely sought-after even to this day because of its .... uniqueness. This one though, is a completely special model that was kept on the down low for a couple of decades to increase its value.

Unfortunately, the place it was kept in was too damp. Actually, it was the Des Plaines River and, as you probably already guessed, the force of nature did a number on the little car.

That might be putting it mildly. According to the ad, “this vehicle was stored in a climate-controlled environment. It sat submerged in the Des Plaines River for that time and the local climate controlled everything.” You can’t be more honest than that, now can you?

Ran when new

However, the seller doesn’t stop there. Apparently, the car ‘ran when new’ and has ‘no useable parts!’, it comes in ‘flat-pack storage’ and could be the ‘perfect gift’ due to its compact size. What more could you possibly wish for, right?

The hilarity continues with the owner explaining how he came by this ‘majestic’ car. It was found in the river mentioned above and ‘with no expense spared or spent, it was removed from the muck and transported in an enclosed trailer”.

To put it in the seller’s words, all you need to restore this car is ‘a frame, a body, door, engine, chaincase and some other bits that can be purchased with money.” For the price it was sold for, $250, you get a brilliant idea though. Isn’t that worth it? Not to mention the story you get to tell your friends.

Unfortunately, by the time we finished writing about it, the Isetta was already sold, proving once again just how desirable it is. The owner said that he will donate the money to Donors Choose, a charity that buys books, supplies and filed trips for needy schools. That’s the best bit about this news, by far!
