Whet we first though it was only an issue on a small number of Triumph Trophy SE machines has proved to be a more extensive matter, as the NHTSA has issues a new recall for 513 bikes.
The new recall campaign (number 13V223000) plans to recall these 513 Triumph Trophy and Trophy SE motorcycles manufacturer between September 2012 and March 2013, all with the same fuel tank problem.
Speaking of which, Triumph announced that the two layers used for fabricating the tank may have failed to adhere properly, and the result could be fuel leaks. Aside from being potentially stranded in remote places, this problem could lead to a fire, in case a source of ignition is present.
Triumph will notify the owners and the dealers will replace the tanks throughout June 2013. So if you've just gotten your new Trophy or Trophy SE, postpone your plans until you've checked with your dealer, as this is a very serious problem.
