When Aston Martin showed the DBX prototype in Geneva, a lot of the brand's fans shook their heads in disagreement. The same happened when Porsche revealed the Panamera, but it can get worse (or better, for some) as a four-door DBX is not a very far-fetched idea.
In today's automotive environment, there's a short way from concept to reality. Add diluted niches that are sometimes hard to distinguish and you'll see why creations like the Aston Martin DBX don't raise many eyebrows anymore.

Looking at Theophilus Chin's latest renderings showing a four-door DBX, we see a lot of potential for a model to rival the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE. In fact, Aston Martin could eventually opt for a more practical four-door version of the DBX, but there's nothing certain at this point.

However, when the car's production will kick-off in Alabama, where Aston Martin CEO see the perfect location for a new plant, the crossover will receive the same mission as the ones before it from Porsche, BMW and Mercedes: boost yearly sales.

Moreover, after Andy Palmer said Mercedes-Benz platforms are not sporty enough for the DBX, it's clear that the production model will not focus on comfort and soft riding. Nonetheless, some Mercedes components could be used for the DBX underpinnings, but we don't get to find out which ones.

The only question is: will the DBX be capable of competing with SUVs like the BMW X6 and the GLE? Also, Bentley Bentayga will be on the market by the time the production DBX sees daylight, which means things will escalate quickly to a saturated segment.
