Ford Vehicles with SYNC Get Aftermarket Navigation from Visteon

A new in-dash navigation and entertainment system has been announced by the global automotive supplier Viseton Corporation as available. This aftermarket kit named Visteon Navigation Radio System is compatible with Ford vehicles equipped with Ford SYNC in North America only.

"Navigation is one of the industry's hottest accessories categories, and this user-friendly interface brings navigation capability to SYNC users without sacrificing the SYNC technology," said Jonathan Weisberg, Visteon's director of mobile electronics - aftermarket. "This breakthrough product resulted from Visteon's experience in navigation systems with Ford and other vehicle manufacturers, as well as our expertise in the integration of hardware and software in vehicles."

Thus, the kit allows SYNC to interface with the Visteon Navigation Radio System, and includes an easy-to-install direct connect harness and interface box that enables SYNC to be operated from the touch screen on the Visteon’s system.

To get straight to the point, the Visteon Navigation Radio System features fully integrated GPS navigation, a multimedia disc player for CDs and DVDs, iPod player command and control, Bluetooth wireless hands-free phone operation and streaming audio, rear backup camera video input and many other functions.

To be more specific, SYNC is a fully integrated, voice-activated, in-car communications and entertainment system for mobile phones and digital music players. According to statement released by Visteon, more than 80 percent of the Ford vehicles that are registered in North America are available with SYNC, as the American carmaker has delivered more than 1 million SYNC systems since the product made its debut in 2007 on the Ford Focus.
