Ford Reveals New Territory

Ford Australia has released a sketch of the upcoming 2011 Territory. The highly versatile SUV began to fell behind the times, so Ford announced that there will be a new Territory, probably redesigned in the same way as the Falcon.

"The Ford Territory set a new benchmark when it was first released and it is set to achieve this again – and more," said Bob Graziano, President and CEO of Ford Australia.

While the design seems completely different, as the SUV is wearing a stylish suit based on Ford's kinetic design language, the underpinnings of the new model will probably remain the same, as reports from the Australian motoring media have indicated. The forthcoming model will use the codename E265A and, as the current Territory is E265, this suggests that the platform won't change.

"This is an exceptional SUV. It wears an exciting new look and will boast an extensive list of technical highlights. The Ford Australia team is taking the Territory to an all-new level of performance, refinement and quality, and customers will definitely experience these advancements when they drive it," added Graziano.

The new Territory will feature a redesigned interior, and a number of gadgets and technologies, including a new turbo-diesel engine. The model will be launched next year, as part of Ford Australia's plan to replace about 85 percent of its new model catalogue.

The new Territory will be followed closely by a revamped Falcon as well as the all-new Ford Focus, which made its world premiere earlier this year. Also coming in 2011 is Ford's all-new Ranger, which was designed and developed in Australia.
