Ford Motor Co. has decided to discontinue the high-end Harley-Davidson edition for its F-Series pickup truck. Introduced back in 2000 on the F-150 and expanded to the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty series four years later, the Harley-Davidson special edition was axed due to low sales.
"We don't have plans for one at the moment. We've got 10 models including a brand-new Limited Model, which was new for 2013. We feel like we've got the market really well covered,” said Doug Scott, Ford Motor Co.'s truck marketing manager, adding that only one to two percent of F-150 pickups were ordered with the Harley-Davidson trim.
Despite dropping the motorcycle co-branded model, Ford is far from missing high-end trucks in its F-Series lineup, with the King Ranch, Platinum and SVR Raptor versions surpassing their niche expectations.
