Ford Execs Shakeup

American manufacturer Ford announced today it is overhauling the management of the company in an attempt to further strengthen the One Ford strategy which led the carmaker through a relatively care-free 2009.

The executive shakeup was initiated by the retirements of Gerhard Schmidt, Chief Technical Officer and vice president for Research & Advanced Engineering and Ingvar Sviggum, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.

Schmidt will be replaced on February 1, 2011, by Paul Mascarenas, currently Ford’s vice president, Engineering. Sviggum's position on the other hand will be occupied on January 1, 2011, by Roelant de Waard, currently vice president, Sales, Ford of Europe.

Ford also announced several other appointments within the group, as follows: Barb Samardzich, is appointed vice president, Global Product Programs; Joe Bakaj is appointed vice president, Powertrain Engineering; Raj Nair is appointed Vice President, Engineering; Frank Davis is appointed vice president, Product Development, Ford of Europe; Matt O’Leary is appointed director, Product Development, Ford South America Operations.

“These moves further strengthen our Global Product Development team as we continue to accelerate the development of new vehicles around the world that customers truly desire with the best quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design and value,” said Kuzak Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development.

The One Ford plan is structured in such a way that it will allow the carmaker to be profitable and successful. The goals of the plan, as stated by Ford, are to restructure, accelerate development, improve the balance sheet and work as one, integrated team.
