Ford Australia has officially confirmed that the updated Falcon and Territory SUV will get an automatic Triple Zero assistance system. Slated to go on sale in a few months time, both models will receive Ford Emergency Assistance as standard. This kit is basically the Aussie version of the US-spec Ford 911 Assist emergency that debuted some 6 years ago.
Just like Ford's 911 Assist, the Australian variant is going to call 000 directly following a crash instead of relaying calls through a third party, thus saving a lot of valuable time. The Blue Oval informs the system will automatically call emergency services only if the airbags deploy following a crash situation and only if a phone is connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth.
Following the previously mentioned, the vehicle's telephony system will ensure the line stays open by blocking all other calls until an emergency operator makes voice contact to the driver or passenger of the facelifted FG X Falcon or Territory. If the crash is serious and no occupant responds to the operator, Triple Zero will send police and medical crews to the scene of accident based of the phone's GPS data.
Similar to Ford 911 Assist, the Aussie auto Triple Zero emergency feature comes with no costs or subscriptions associated with the service. In addition to that, the Blue Oval's division from the Land Down Under disclosed that the technology is going to be added to all Ford models sold here by 2017.
“Ford’s Emergency Assistance has already proved itself as a life-saver overseas and we expect our Falcon and Territory customers will appreciate the reassurance that comes with this technology,” declared Graeme Whickman, Ford Australia vice president of marketing, sales and service.
