Force India Support Sutil for Spanish GP

Adrian Sutil will continue to drive for Force India at least in the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, on Circuit de Catalunya, despite the legal troubles experienced by the German driver in recent weeks.

As confirmed by the lawyer of Genii Capital's executive Eric Lux earlier this week, a complaint will be filed by the Lotus Renault GP official against the Force India driver, following an incident that allegedly occurred between the two in a Chinese GP after-party, in Shanghai.

While Lux claims Sutil attacked him with a broken champagne glass in a nightclub VIP room, the latter revealed to the media, through the voice of his manager, that the whole thing was an accident. Therefore, he will continue to state his innocence and clear his name in any court of law, should that be the case.

Now Force India Mercedes issued a statement of its own, a couple of days prior to the Spanish Grand Prix, in which it states it will closely monitor the situation between their driver and Lux but, for the time being, the whole saga will not have any immediate effect on the team's lineup for the 2011 campaign.

Force India Formula 1 Team is aware of the statements made by both its driver, Adrian Sutil, and Mr. Eric Lux of Genii Capital, pertaining to events following the Chinese Grand Prix,” said the statement. “Although the team continues to monitor the situation, it remains fully committed to its driver line-up at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.”
